The President of Uzbekistan discusses with the Head of the Government of Pakistan issues of enhancing mutually beneficial cooperation
As part of a working visit to the city of Astana, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif.
The current issues of further developing the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Pakistan, primarily in the trade, economic, investment, transport, and communications spheres, were discussed.
Active contacts at different levels were noted with satisfaction. The volume of mutual trade, cargo transportation, and joint ventures is growing.
The President of Uzbekistan emphasized the importance of continuing work to create favorable conditions for increasing trade turnover within the framework of the Preferential Trade Agreement.
It was noted that adopting a joint Industrial Cooperation Program for 2025-2026, which provides for the implementation of projects in agriculture, textiles, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and other industries, is important.
An agreement was reached to hold the Intergovernmental Commission’s next meeting, a business forum, and an industrial exhibition this year.
The importance of joint efforts in practically promoting the Trans-Afghan Railway construction project was emphasized.
Views were also exchanged on the regional agenda issues.
