Apostille and Legalization
I. Citizens of Uzbekistan and stateless persons, as well as foreign individuals and legal entities in the United States (Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia), Brazil, Canada, and Cuba apply to the Consular Section of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the USA (District of Columbia).

II. (APOSTILLE). Uzbekistan, the United States, and Brazil are parties to the Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Documents. In this regard, documents issued by the authorities of Uzbekistan, the United States, and Brazil have legal force in these countries without consular legalization, if these documents are Apostilled by the authorities of these countries (Contact information for 50 US Secretaries of State is available on the website of National Association of Secretaries of State website. Documents issued by the US government are apostilled by the Authentication Office of the State Department Authentications Office).
III. (LEGALIZATION). Canada and Cuba are not parties to the Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Documents. In this regard, documents issued by the competent authorities of Uzbekistan, Canada and Cuba have legal force in these countries only after they are certified by a local notary and legalized at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and consular offices of these states abroad. Documents issued by the authorities of Canada have legal force in Uzbekistan only after (1) their attestation by a Canadian local notary (2) legalization at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Canada (Global Affairs Canada) (3) legalization at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Washington DC.
List of documents for legalization at the Embassy of Uzbekistan the documents issued by the authorities of Canada and Cuba:
1. Completed application form (print the form).
2. Original and copy of a document legalized by Global Affairs Canada and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba.
3. Copy of the passport of the person signing/owner of the legalized document.
4. Consular fees: (1) USD 35 – for a document issued/signed by a citizen of Uzbekistan (2) USD 115 – for a document issued/signed by a foreign citizen / stateless person/company (only Money Order – Pay to the Embassy of Uzbekistan).
5. Self-paid-return envelope with a shipping label (only FedEx “E – Express”, UPS, and DHL shipping labels, please do not use FedEx Air waybill or other services).
