Economic cooperation


Uzbekistan and the United States are actively developing the trade-economic and investment cooperation which is a priority in the Uzbek-American relations.

At present, leading American companies such as Boeing, General Motors, General Electric, CNH Industrial, Hyatt, Hilton and many others have successful businesses in Uzbekistan.

The partnership with General Motors should be noted as amongst the positive examples of cooperation with major American business corporations. This company on a regular basis increases the release of car models. A key event in this direction was the launch of the plant General Motors Powertrain – Uzbekistan for the production of engines for passenger cars.

The Boeing company is a constant and a key supplier of modern aircraft for the national airline of Uzbekistan. In 2016, the air fleet of the National Air Company “Uzbekistan Airways” was replenished with two airliners of the new generation “Boeing-787-8 Dreamliner”, which will further strengthen the authority of our country in the global air transportation system.

An important mechanism for supporting and promoting business contacts between countries is the The American-Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce (AUUC), which has held its regular meeting on February 1, 2017 in Tashkent. In September, 2017 a large business forum with the participation of more than 200 companies was held in New York, following the signing of contracts for 2.6 billion dollars. Holding these business forums is a confirmation of a growing mutual interest and endeavour to develop a beneficial trade-economic and investment cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United States.

In September 2017, the first Uzbekistan Trade House, UzTrade, opened in the United States, which facilitates the expansion of Uzbek export to American market.

There has been a vigorous increase in trade between Uzbekistan and the United States and it continues to grow. Against the backdrop of the pandemic trade turnover in 2021 has increased by 53% amounting $424.5 mln. Uzbekistan is becoming favorable investment target for U.S. companies willing to increase their presence in the region by using untapped opportunities. Uzbekistan as the heart of Central Asia and as the gateway to European and Asian markets is privileged to host numerous U.S. companies, like General Motors, Boeing, ExxonMobil, Coca-Cola, John Deere, and Silverleaf heavily investing to various sectors of national economy by creating jobs and producing wealth.

Currently, 164 enterprises with American capital operate in Uzbekistan, the volume of US investments into the economy of Uzbekistan has exceeded 1 bln. US dollars.
