Kokand Airport received a large aircraft for the first time in its history
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Fergana region on July 11 to get acquainted with the population’s life and the region’s development.
Large-scale work is being carried out in the country to develop transport infrastructure. In the aviation sector alone, Samarkand, Termez, Muynak, and Zaamin airports were updated and put into operation. The Tashkent and Urgench international airports are being repaired, and Tashkent-Vostochny is being reconstructed.

In March this year, Kokand Airport reopened. Today the plane of the President of Uzbekistan landed here.
The airport, built in 1977, was designed for short flights. Subsequently, the airport was used only by the air force. As a result of modernization, civil aviation flights are being relaunched here.
The Head of state got acquainted with the construction work carried out here.

A new terminal for 100 passengers was built at the airport, and the runway was renovated. Modern air navigation equipment has been installed, allowing the airport to receive A320-200 and ATR 72-600 aircraft.

The President noted that this airport must now serve the people with dignity. Instructions were given to increase the number of flights, improve ease of use, and make services affordable.
Broad prospects have been noted for using domestic tourism opportunities and organizing international flights.
