REPRESENTATIVES OF THE UN HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL IN BUKHARA
The delegation led by the Special Rapporteur on freedom of religion or belief of the UN Human Rights Council Ahmed Shaheed visited Bukhara region.
The guests visited the architectural complex of Bakhouddin Naqshbandi – the founder of the famous Naqshbandiyya teachings in the Islamic world.
The Special Rapporteur on freedom of religion or belief of the UN Human Rights Council had a conversation here with a group of imam-khatibs of the region. It was noted that Islam is a religion of peace and humanism. Various extremist movements in different regions of the world are trying to contribute to the formation of the notion of our sacred religion as a factor of violence, among the world community. The purpose of these ideological attacks is primarily the immature consciousness and mind of youth. In our country, a wide explanatory and educational activity aimed at combating ignorance through education is being held.
Members of the delegation led by A. Shaheed met with the khokim of Bukhara region U.Barnoyev. The guests were told about the ongoing work on ensuring the constitutional rights and legitimate interests of citizens, the important role in this process of people’s receptions operating in the regions, districts and cities. Representatives of an authoritative international organization received answers to their questions.
The guests also visited the ancient Kalyan Mosque.
There are three religious educational institutions in Bukhara region – the high madrasah Mir Arab, the secondary special educational institution Mir Arab and the women’s secondary specialized Islamic educational institution Juybori Kalon.
The Special Rapporteur of the UN and members of the delegation visited the Mir Arab special secondary educational institution and the women’s specialized secondary Islamic educational institution Juybori Kalon, met with students and teachers.
Today there are 117 religious organizations of 7 confessions in the region. Synagogue is among them.
Within the framework of the visit, the guests visited the citizens’ gathering of makhalla named after Akhmad Donish in Bukhara. Representatives of seven nationalities live here in peace and harmony. They together solve socio-economic issues of their makhalla, take responsibility for the education of youth.
Members of the delegation led by A.Shaheed received answers to all their questions from the makhalla activists, representatives of the national cultural centers.
