Tourism in Uzbekistan: things worth seeing
16th Tashkent International Tourism Fair \"Tourism on the Silk Road\" opened in Uzexpocenter on 7 October.
A member of world tourist community, Uzbekistan is actively contributing to the development of world tourist market. Since 1995, the fair has been one of the largest tourist forums in Central Asia.
It draws a number of Uzbek professionals and foreign tour agencies. As one of the main activities in this industry, Tashkent International Tourism Fair plays a significant role in creating and maintaining the image of Uzbekistan.
Main task of the fair is provision of the participants and guests with all necessary information on tour routes and different types of leisure. The Tashkent International Tourism Fair (TITF) sums up the results of the tourist season, establishes the development tendencies for the next year and presents potential for the season.
The number of the participants of the fair, its geography and a range of services are actively increasing year by year. This year the event is attended by representatives from such states as Azerbaijan, Germany, Greece, India, China, Cyprus, Malaysia, UAE, Russia, Turkey, Czech, Switzerland and others. To be noted, Thailand is a partner of TITF this year.
Uzbekistan pays great attention to the creation of favourable conditions for the development of tourism, expansion of cooperation with potential partners, stimulation of the surge of foreign tourists and legal protection of tourism.
Uzbekistan has something to surprise visitors. The Great Silk Road left great legacy to this earth. More than 4,000 outstanding monuments of ancient architecture palaces and fortresses, mausoleums and mosques, madrahssas and minarets annually draw many people from all over the world in a country.
The national pavilion \"Tourism of Uzbekistan\" is called to demonstrate the rich tourist potential of Uzbekistan and combines regional administrations and subjects of tourist activity of our country, learning centers, theatres, museums, tourist companies, regional branches and Travel Bureau of Uzbektourism national company.
The pavilion will be divided thematically into several parts according to the concept of the exhibition. \"Uzbekistan country of tourism,\" is main exposition, followed by stands of \"Transportation,\" \"Hotel business as the largest complex component of the tourism industry,\" \"Restaurants of Uzbekistan.\"
The demonstration of brands will be held for each of the regions of Uzbekistan, with their distinctive colours, unique features and peculiarities. It allows penetrate every corner of Uzbekistan and see a single, beautiful image of this ancient and renewed country, to assess its contribution to world civilization.
Interesting to note, fans of the environmental, folklore-ethnographic, scientific and educational types of tourism, lovers of extreme experiences mountain climbing in any time of year, rafting, trekking, horse or bicycle tours, and jeep-safari in the desert expanse are among foreign visitors coming to Uzbekistan.
Uzbekistan has unique natural and medical-wellness areas, so the exhibition will focus on infrastructure of tourism and recreation, the development of recreational areas and health centers for the reception of domestic and foreign tourists.
For the years of independence, Uzbekistan significantly improved hotel infrastructure, opened new tour routes with the use of opportunities of rapidly developing transport market. Presently, over 750 companies have license for the tourist activity, 240 hotel complexes and small hotels with over 7,300 suits and the capacity of 12,800 visitors currently operate in the country.
According to Uzbektourism forecast, the volume of servicing of inbound and foreign tourism in 2010 will make up over 3 billion soum, while the services export will comprise up to$115 million.
TITF will also host an important event of world significance - meeting of representatives of national tourism administrations of member-states of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) \"Silk Road\". It will be held within the framework of exhibition on 8-9 October in Samarkand.
Undoubtedly, Tashkent International Tourism Fair will significantly contribute to the expansion of partner relations between states, creates the positive image of our country. Uzbekistan has a huge tourist potential, priceless cultural heritage and unique nature – a good stimulus for the development of tourism and attraction of foreign visitors.
