The Kuwaiti press on the chairmanship of Uzbekistan in the SCO
In the State of Kuwait there is a keen interest in the life of the Republic of Uzbekistan. In particular, media of Kuwait give the importance to the presidency of Uzbekistan in the SCO.
Thus, the newspaper “Al-Wasat” writes that beginning in June 2009, the Republic of Uzbekistan became the chairman of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Under its presidency, active steps are being taken to further strengthen the fruitful and effective cooperation between the SCO member states. Uzbekistan pays special attention to further improvement of the effectiveness of the organization, through the development of its international contacts and strengthening the legal framework, strict compliance to the aims, objectives and principles of the Charter of the SCO.
\\\"According to Uzbekistan, the SCO member states should carefully and skillfully use the UN tribune to solve problems and promote the interests of the organization. In this regard, it is necessary to use mechanisms such as consultation between the missions of the SCO member states at the UN, as well as between representatives of the secretariats of the organizations to discuss greater cooperation in ensuring regional and international security and other areas of mutual interest \\\", - states the Article .
Developing this theme, the newspaper “Al-Nahar” states: \\\"The proposals of President Islam Karimov, put forward at a meeting of national coordinators of SCO member states on September 11, 2009 in Tashkent, aimed at improving decision-making mechanisms within the organization, as well as the activities of the SCO and its structural divisions, are extremely important”.
The publication further writes, that trade, economic and investment cooperation within the SCO is currently being implemented in accordance with the plan of action to implement the Program of multilateral trade and economic cooperation of the Organization’s member states.
The newspaper notes, that among the important priorities of the SCO – is the development of transport communications. The free industrial economic zone (FIEZ) in Navoi, located in the center of road networks, is of great importance as a catalyst for economic growth not only for Uzbekistan but also for the entire region.
