Head of German Foreign Ministry holds briefing for media representatives
Following the results of the meetings held during the visit of the Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany, current Chairman of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, Frank-Walter Steinmeier held a briefing for journalists of domestic and foreign media.
\"Central Asia is of strategic importance from the point of view of politics, economy, and safety. Not only Germany, but also the OSCE attaches particular attention to this region. Uzbekistan is the first leg of our trip to Central Asia, and this is no accident. Considering population, geographical situation, a crossroads of trade routes – all this makes Uzbekistan a key country in the region\", - said the Foreign Minister of Germany.
To date, Uzbekistan and Germany actively cooperate in ensuring security in the region. As noted by Frank-Walter Steinmeier during the meeting with President Islam Karimov and Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov, the sides discussed issues of joint counteraction against various threats to stability and security in the region. Germany in the framework of its presidency in OSCE will soon hold a conference in Berlin on the prevention of radicalization.
In line with other issues, the meeting discussed the prospects of further expanding trade-economic and investment cooperation.\"
More than 80 German enterprises operate in Uzbekistan. In the framework of the German presidency in the OSCE it is also scheduled to hold an economic forum. The interest of German business circles to Uzbekistan\'s economy is evidenced by the number of travelers who arrived in the delegation. We are interested to further deepen and intensify our economic relationship,\" -German Foreign Minister said.
\"We held constructive talks within the meeting with President Islam Karimov and First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance. We discussed specific issues on economic cooperation and investment projects. German entrepreneurs also took an active part in the course of the talks. We talked not only about investment projects that have already been implemented in Uzbekistan, but also the perspectives,” - Frank-Walter Steinmeier added.
According to the guest, the development of cooperation in scientific and cultural spheres is also of great importance in strengthening bilateral ties. During the press conference, the Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany answered all questions of journalists.
