“NGOS ARE AN IMPORTANT FACTOR IN PROTECTING DEMOCRATIC VALUES, RIGHTS, FREEDOMS AND INTERESTS OF CITIZENS IN UZBEKISTAN”
Kyrgyz media continue to cover the results of IV National Forum of NGOs of Uzbekistan, recently held in Tashkent.
In particular, Svoboda.kg information-analytical agency reported on program and course of the event. “National Forum was preceded by regional stages, which were attended by more than 2,5 thousand representatives of responsible ministries, departments and NGOs. The result was the conclusion of more than 600 memoranda and agreements on social partnership with government agencies to implement projects in the areas of education of young people, raising the legal culture of the population, ensuring the full participation of women in society, sustainable use of natural resources, development of volunteer and charitable activities of citizens in social and humanitarian issues in regions”.
The article emphasized that relevant topics were discussed within the framework of various formats, enabling more versatile consider of stated questions. The first day was devoted to the analysis of prospects for the formation of an effective scheme of state bodies’ interaction with NGOs.
It further noted that the forum participants appreciated the measures taken by the authority of the republic to strengthen cooperation between entrepreneurs and NGOs in implementing socially significant projects aimed at improving the social responsibility of business.
The source also informed that non-profit organizations in Uzbekistan have become an important factor in the protection of democratic values, human rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of citizens for the last years. “They contribute to increasing social, socio-economic activity and legal culture of people. More than 8 300 diverse NGOs of the republic not only realize their ideas and projects in various fields, but also participate in the adoption socially important decisions by governments in development and implementation of laws, programs of development of the country and society. An important foundation for it was a solid legal basis, the laws “On social partnership”, “On the openness of public authorities and management”, “On Environmental Control”, adopted on the basis of the Concept of further deepening the democratic reforms and establishment of the civil society in the country.
Assessing past events, Kyrgyz information agency stressed that it has become a platform for confidential dialogue between representatives of NGOs and government agencies. A memorandum and an agreement were signed, proposals for further improvement of law enforcement were jointly developed, as well as the legal basis for civil society institutions’ development.
According to the conclusion of article, the culmination of the event was the awarding 62 winners of the fifth and the sixth grant competition announced by the Public Fund for support of NGOs and other civil society institutions under Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
