World Bank Office announces Small Grants Program 2006
World Bank Office in Uzbekistan has announced Small Grants Program. Created in1983, the program is intended to strengthen the voice and influence of poor and marginalized groups in the development processes, thereby making these processes more inclusive and equitable.
Thus, it supports activities of civil society organizations whose primary objective is civic engagement of the poor and marginalized populations.
Grant applications can be submitted by any non-commercial, non-government, non-academic organizations. Events, funded by the Small Grants Program, should be aimed to expand civic engagement in the development of dialogue and distribution of information, as well as strengthening of partnership with the key participants of the economic and social development process.
In the framework of the Small Grants Program for 2006, WB especially welcomes applications from NGOs, interested in the development of dialogue with the government on the economic and social policy implemented in the country, measures taken to provide services at the local level and increase the transparency and accountability of local authorities to the central government in the framework of the Millennium Development Goals.
Grants will be issued within the limits of US$1,000-US$7,000 in national currency. The events in the framework of the projects to be funded by small grants should be completed within the period of one year from the date of grant issuance. Applications are due 30 January 2006.
