Uzbekistan Celebrates Independence Day
Grand celebrations of the 14th anniversary of Uzbekistan?s independence were held on 31 August at Alisher Navoi National Park in Tashkent.
Members of the government, deputies, senators, workers of science, culture and art, businessmen, foreign diplomats, representatives of international organizations and others gathered here to participate in the celebrations.
President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov congratulated the people of the country with the holiday.
?Over the [14 years], Uzbekistan has passed a historic way, each year of which can be compared to decades and centuries. Any sector of sphere of life we turn to proves huge successes that a nation that has gained freedom and independence ? can reach,? the President said.
On a huge screen, pictures of creative work carried out during the years of independence were demonstrated.
After that, songs praising Uzbekistan and the Uzbek people were performed, followed by demonstrations by gymnasts, athletes and acrobats.
Representatives of the Armed Forces marched through the square to the military band music.
Then classic songs, melodies and dance were performed. Representatives of various nations living in Uzbekistan demonstrated their art.
On the light panel, words of the President Islam Karimov ?Uzbek people will never depend on anyone!? were then illuminated and the colorful fireworks lighted the sky.
Celebrations of the 14th independence anniversary are being held in all regions and districts of Uzbekistan.
