President decrees to reorganize AFER into Ministry
Agency for Foreign Economic Relations (AFER) of Uzbekistan was reorganized into Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade Ministry within the presidential decree dated 21 July, 2005.
The President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a decree ?On improvement of system on management of foreign economic and trade relations, attraction of foreign investments?.
The document directed to develop and deepen foreign economic relations, stir up attraction of foreign investments and ensure reliable guarantees for foreign investors, further liberalization of foreign trade, formation of long-tern partnership relations among Uzbek and foreign companies.
The document set main tasks of newly created ministry, which include implementation of state policy in foreign economic activity, stimulation of export and attraction of foreign investments, liberalization of foreign trade, expand and strengthen foreign ties.
The decree also established that the ministry will be responsible for marketing researches of internal and external markets, implementation of measures on increasing competitiveness of Uzbek economy, ensure development of economic and financial cooperation of Uzbekistan with foreign countries, etc.
