International music festival Sharq Taronalari to be held in Samarkand
In compliance with the presidential decree dated 15 June 2005, international music festival Sharq Taronalari will be held in Samarkand in late August.
According to chief director of the festival grand celebrations Bahodir Yuldashev, ?this unique international holiday of art serves to preserving, wide propagation and development of unique samples of national music art of the Oriental peoples?.
The festival has been held since 1997. Its main idea is to bring various nations closer through music.
The even will take place during 25-30 August on the Registan Square.
This year?s festival will be devoted to the famous poet and thinker Alisher Navoi.
If last year representatives of 34 states took part in the festival, this year?s participants are expected to represent more than 50 countries.
The best national song performance contest will be held in the festival?s framework, in which each participant will perform his people?s national song.
