A Russian delegation visits Andijan
A delegation of Politika (Politics) Fund of the Russian Federation led by its president Vyacheslav Nikonov visited Uzbekistan to familiarize with situation in the country.
The delegation includes director of Russian Institute on Political researches, editor-in-chief of Politichiskiy Class magazine Vitaliy Tretyakov, deputy editor-in-chief of Trud Rafael Guseynov and advisor of Moscow mayor Nurali Latypov.
According to ?UzA? - National News Agency, the delegation visited Andijan and held several meetings in Tashkent.
The report said that the delegation met representatives of Andijan and witnesses of tragic events took place on 13 May. It was noted that among terrorists were foreigners, including citizens of neighboring countries.
In Tashkent, the delegation met specialists of Institute of Strategic and Interregional Researches under the President of Uzbekistan. During the meeting, the sides underlined that extremism groups are trying to destabilize situation in Central Asia and noted necessity to strengthen situation to ensure security in the region.
The delegation also visited University of World Economy and Diplomacy and participated in round table to discuss problems on formation of civic society.
Nikonov told UzA that there are many organizations, financing and practicing violence. He said that people involved in events in Kyrgyzstan took part in Andijan.
