Organizers of Asrlar Sadosi share plans with journalists
As previously informed, this year’s Festival of Traditional Culture Asrlar Sadosi will go to Sarmyshsay tract in Navoi region, one of the major natural galleries of prehistoric art in Uzbekistan.
For six years, this is perhaps the most ancient venue of the festival. Its events will also take place in Bukhoro and Navoi.
As noted at the press conference by Academician Akbar Khakimov, the conference and presentation of six books on architectural epigraphy is going to be the most important stage of this year\'s festival for him.
Six regions of Uzbekistan will present six editions on deciphered inscriptions on ancient architectural monuments. The academician also pointed out to the difficulties in the decryption process and proposed to establish a calligraphic school for professional restoration of historic sites.
A National Dress Festival will be another expected and spectacular event of the festival. Khalida Kamilova, Chairperson of the Association of Fashion Designers of Uzbekistan Osie Ramzi shared the details of the meeting.
“The festival is unique as it helps young people to better know their history. While getting prepared for the show designers learn the history of the region and the national dress to reflect the knowledge in their collections. Navoi region is a relatively young region, but it has been famous for its traditional Nurata embroidery and suzani for many years. Despite the fact that the embroidery is usually not used in clothes, the designers are going to apply it in their collections. Besides, two collections at the National Dress Festival will be based on petroglyphs of Sarmyshsay. We are also going to demonstrate in the festival several children\'s collections from the recent Children\'s Fashion Festival Bolajonlar-Shirintoylar.
An arts and crafts fair is another generally favorite event of Asrlar Sadosi. The festival will bring together 80 top masters from all regions of Uzbekistan.
Organizers also noted that with the years the festival was gaining popularity not only inside of the country, but also abroad. Last year, Euronews TV channel was regularly broadcasting trails for the festival of traditional culture in Karakalpakstan, and later, National Geographic TV channel produced a documentary on Asrlar Sadosi.
According to tradition, this year the festival will include street festivities, folk performances, arts and crafts fair, national games, as well as the National Cuisine Festival. Asrlar Sadosi – 2013 will be crowned by a gala concert with the participation of foreign guests. . (Source: Uzbekistan today newspaper)
