International Chess Tournament Ends in Tashkent
The 7th International Chess Tournament \'\'Toshkent open\'\', dedicated to the memory of the first Uzbek grandmaster Georgiy Agzamov ended in Tashkent.
More than a hundred chess players from such countries like Uzbekistan, the USA, England, Spain, Germany, Brunei, Azerbaijan, Russia, Ukraine, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan took part in this traditional competition organized by the Ministry of Culture and Sports and the Chess Federation of Uzbekistan.
The international tournament Toshkent open, traditionally held since 2007, serves to identify new talents and promote potential of the Uzbek chess school in the international arena.
In competitions held in the Swiss style and consisted of nine rounds, the Russian grandmaster Pavel Maletin occupied the first place with 7.5 points. Oleg Korneyev from Spain and Anuar Ismagambetov from Kazakhstan scoring by seven points entered the top three.
Sevara Boymurodova showing a strong game in the tournament has recorded the best result among women and Jahongir Vohidov was awarded with a special prize with the highest score among youth. (Source: UzA)
