USAID EDP WINS ?BEST TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE PROJECT IN UZBEKISTAN?
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Enterprise Development Project (EDP) has been honored with the accolade of ?Best Technical Assistance Project in Uzbekistan? at the prestigious Tashabbus Awards; an annual event organized for the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan by the Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the State Committee for Management of State Property and Entrepreneurship Support.
This award is in recognition of the outstanding impact the Enterprise Development Project has on stimulating development of the Uzbek Small and Medium sized Enterprise sector (SME), a major driver of the Uzbek economy.
Through a range of targeted business consulting services, including Strategic, Financial, Marketing and Trade services, USAID EDP has helped nearly two hundred Uzbek clients achieve an impressive average 25% increase in sales and a 35% productivity increase. Additionally, in the last three months alone, the project has arranged nearly US$2 million of trade deals for clients.
A recent example of client success is the Tashkent based uniform producer, who using USAID EDPs Strategic Action Plan model and marketing products, significantly reduced their costs and found new customers, delivering a stunning 72% sales increase and nearly doubling their gross margin in just ten months.
?We highly appreciate all the services received from USAID EDP,? commented another client, ?they will contribute greatly to our operations and we strongly believe we will find our niche in the global market? We are very pleased to work with USAID EDP, and words cannot express all the assistance they provided to us.?
USAID EDP looks forward to extending their services to Uzbek SMEs in the coming year. ?I very much appreciate the recognition that comes with this award,? states Michael Dan, USAID EDP Country Director, ?I attribute the receipt of this award to the excellent cooperation we enjoy with all our clients, USAID and partners in Uzbekistan as well as to the hard work and unflinching commitment of our staff to developing SMEs and business associations in Uzbekistan.\"
