Eastern Motifs in Arts: Works of the Uzbek painter to be presented in Prague
Mega-canvas of Lekim Ibragimov, People’s Artist of Uzbekistan, Professor, Academician of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan, honorary member of the Russian Arts Academy, is to be put on display July 9, 2012, in the Exhibition Center of Prague, Czech Republic.
Unique art work entitled “One Thousand Angels and One Paining” is dedicated to legendary images and mythical subjects from the Eastern fairytale “A Thousand and One Nights”. According to the author, it took two and a half year to create this canvas. Plenty of various plots with one angel on each are depicted in the canvas. The image of angel turns to be a limelight of the exposition. Impressive size of Lekim Ibragimov’s canvas makes it even more eye-catching and distinctive, as it is eight meters high and 66 meters in length.
To the plans of the renowned artist, the canvas will be exposed in cities included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, and Prague as the first. The primary goal of the project One Thousand Angels and One Painting is charity, and all proceeds are to be directed in the support of children with physical disabilities, living in cities where the canvas will be displayed. At the same time, the project aims at cultural interaction between the East and West and familiarization of the peoples of European countries with achievements the Eastern culture gained.
