Uzmetkombinat to adjust production of seamless steel pipes
Preparation of the preliminary technical and economic validation has begun on investment project \"Organization of production of seamless steel hot-water pipes\" at Uzmetkombinat of Bekabad. This was announced during 1st stage of the 6th International Fair and Cooperation Exchange, by head of Engineering Center of the Plant Hasan Tashmatov.
New products - seamless steel pipes with a diameter 40-168 mm with a wall thickness of 6-25 mm in the amount of 30 thousand tons per year are designed for the needs of oil and gas industry, he said.
The production is planned to be adjusted in 2015. As part of the Program of priority measures to improve production and development of new types of competitive production approved by the President of Uzbekistan in October 2011, the sources of financing investment projects worth $90 million determined own funds (11%), means of the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan (34%) and domestic commercial banks (55%).
The absence of a seam increases the strength of steel pipes, which makes it possible to use them in the oil and gas pipelines, boiler plants, chemical industry. The development of new products will reduce the import of tubular products to the Republic for an amount not less than $60 million, said the representative of the Engineering Center.
JSC Uzmetkombinat was put into operation in 1956. Previously, it processed scrap metal coming from all the republics of Central Asia. Now, the scrap metal produced in the country, as well as raw materials, purchased outside the country under the tolling is used.
According to the company, the charter capital of Uzmetkombinat is 114 billion soums, divided into 40.156 million shares. The capacity of the Uzbek Metallurgical Plant is designed to produce 790 thousand tons of steel, 760 thousand tons of long steel, 3 thousand tons of brass and copper strips, 2 thousand tons of steel enamelware and 1.2 thousand of welding electrodes and hardware items.
At the present time in Uzbekistan, steel, electric pipes of different diameters used by local engineering companies, construction industry, as well as oil and gas industry are produced by the Uzbek-Russian-American joint venture Tashkent Pipe Plant. Since 2000, the production of competitive products increased more than 17-fold - from 4 thousand tons to 70 thousand tons.
The use of scrap, which costs half the price of finished steel, imported from factories in Russia, Kazakhstan for production of pipes, saves a lot of foreign currency, reported in the enterprise.
Modernization continues to reduce dependence on foreign suppliers of raw materials, saving of foreign exchange, increasing the product range.
Earlier it was reported that the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of May 18, 2012 \"On making adjustments to the program of localization of production of finished products, components and materials based on industrial cooperation for 2012\" included 21 new project worth $ 42.5 million in the localization program.
It is expected that the two factories in Tashkent - JV Gold Lida and LLC Real Premium Service - this year will produce 18 tons of steel pipes of various modifications worth more than $26.5 million. (Source: UzA news agency)
