OSCE CHAIRMAN-IN-OFFICE TO VISIT UZBEKISTAN
Chairman-in-Office of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Slovenian Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel, will visit Uzbekistan on 16 February.
The OSCE Chairman-in-Office will meet the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov, Foreign Minister Elyor Ghaniyev and the speakers of both houses of parliament in Tashkent.
Uzbek Foreign Ministry\'s press service told UzReport.com that the aim of the visit is to discuss with officials of Uzbekistan current state and perspectives of cooperation between the country and OSCE, strengthening security in the region and implementation of concrete economic projects.
The press service said that it is expected to consider issues on the OSCE reforms, increase of efficiency and balanced activity of main structures and institutes of the organization, as well as perspectives of Uzbek-Slovenian interaction.
\"Uzbekistan pays important attention to further development of cooperation with OSCE and supports efforts of Chairman-in-Office, Foreign Minister of Slovenia directed on adoption of OSCE to realities of member countries. Uzbekistan is ready to contribute in the implementation of priorities of Slovenian presidency,\" the release said.
Ministry said that the activity and structure of the organization requires increased efficiency and maintenance of harmonization among three dimensions: military-political, economic and ecologic, as well as humanitarian.
Uzbekistan believes that in present-day conditions issues of strengthening security and implementation of concrete economic projects should be priority direction in all territory of the organization, the release added.
